Prints on polyester and recycled polyester come out bright and sharp with very vivid saturated tints. This synthetic fabric is extremely versatile and the list of our different qualities ready to print is very diverse. It covers sportswear, leisure wear, swimwear, outerwear, including linings. MAIN PROPERTIES AND USES

Polyester fibre makes strong and versatile fabrics that often aim at resembling natural materials. Thanks to its fast drying properties it is ideal for sportswear, swimwear and linings. This artificial fibre also allows many creative variations. Some of our qualities are woven with lurex, some are textured or knitted and contain Elastane for stretch.

On some of our French woven fancy fabrics it is possible to customise the weave. We can insert different colour threads or change the shape of an existing jacquard. Then we print patterns in digital sublimation over the custom weave, opening the way to a very wide creative scope. What’s more, minimum quantities start as low as 50m.

WHAT IS RECYCLED POLYESTER?

Polyester comes from transforming petroleum into plastic. In the process, several polymers are assembled through a chemical process to obtain textile fibres.

To recycle it, the fibres must be reconstituted from old disused fabrics and plastic objects. Generally, a mechanical process, cleaner than chemicals, breaks down and melts the plastic to extrude it into fibres again. At each cycle the fibre’s quality decreases. For recycled polyester to be as good as new, the old fibres are mixed with new fibres to obtain the same properties.

A few examples of recycled polyesters available for digital printing at Maison Le Callennec :

• SEAQUAL partner range Regenesis® by Burlington

• Recycled/New polyester mixes

• Recycled polyester/organic cotton mixes
